Beatrice Morabito, artist-photographer, might not consider herself a “doll maker”;
but in her latest creations she shows her audience that her alter ego enjoys being a naughty puppeteer.
Using a doll in place of a person can create several challenges.
This is what Morabito has to say about her craft:
“It is a hard task to communicate feelings with a doll, and I love doing this. While you are trying to give them a feeling you know that what they will express in the pictures it is only what you forced them to express. A doll can not move by herself, cannot smile, cry, change the position of her body, the expression of the face and so on. It is you doing all these things in her place, so she can simply be an object depicting an extension of myself.”
